There are in broad terms two methods of separating solids from a slurry by gravity:The equipment belonging to the deep depth sedimentation category is discussed in the Thickeners section under Conventional and High-Rate Thickeners. The Lamella Settlers discussed in this section apply to the shallow depth sedimentation category.
